As a SEO professional, there is no stronger tool at demonstrating results of my work than Google Search Console (I just call it Search Console). If like me, you believe that 10,000 hours is a good standard for mastery, I easily have 10,000 hours of using Search Console. I am not one to exaggerate. I have monitored over 1000 websites in Search Console and as of this blog post I have 40 sites.

When Google rolls out changes to Search Console not many people pay attention, which is unfortunate because honestly any business owner can benefit from logging in and understanding the data. Like I always say, if you can measure it, you can improve it. It's just a little bit abstract what exactly someone can use it for. I'll just start with some tried and true bullet point benefits.

  • Overview - here is where you start. The most important 3 topics are available here
  • Insights - traditionally Google's AI powered Insights were not very good
  • Performance - it's the same confusing charts it has always been

I don't like to show my clients' information, but I would like you to view yours. So here's what I call Between the Bullets.

For this information to be helpful you will need to have Google Search Console enabled for your site. Any client of mine from the last 15 years should have one. Go to https://search.google.com using your Google account. I use a dedicated profile in Chrome for this.

Here is what Gemini has to say about the Overview:

In Google Search Console, the Overview page is the default landing screen (the "dashboard") that provides a high-level summary of your website's health and visibility.

Think of it as the "TL;DR" of your entire account. Instead of digging into every sub-menu, you can use this page to quickly spot sudden traffic drops, indexing errors, or experience issues.

In plain English, it's a good place to start as you dive in.

Bottom of Funnel Search Terms for Your Site

In 2026 my clients are more demanding for visible results of my work. Click on that purple button and type "Bottom of funnel search terms. You should see something like this

Suggested configuration

  • Query: Queries matching regex "(buy|price|discount|review|best|vs|coupon|deal|shipping|near me|cost|download|sign up|free trial|demo|quote|contact|appointment|schedule|order|purchase|subscribe|apply|hire|service|solution|consultation|compare|alternatives)"

Click Apply. What you are now viewing is a regex filter of your search console data without the distractions of your low intent long tail results (impressions with no clicks), your brand results (which are low competition anyway), and focusing on the search terms a real consumer would use before they finalize a purchase with your brand. I've been tracking this info as part of "search and convert" however in 2026 its so hard to get people to leave Google or the generative engines to come to your site. Frankly if you want to win at bottom of funnel, you should have content for this audience indexed for search.

Pick the ones that matter for you. Start with what you already have.

As a Senior Digital Strategist, I am one of millions of AI powered entrepreneurs helping clients solve real problems. The biggest problem worth solving in 2026 is to shorten the time between "awareness" and "action". You still need a compelling offer. Your legacy SEO program does not have a visitor as a fish on a hook. The visitor is mixing devices, rejecting cookies, hiding ads. They are just as interested in finding a better solution to their problem as they are in learning your solution to their problem.

If your performance chart looks like this you will be out of business soon.

If it looks like this, you have good bottom of funnel SEO/GEO/AEO
